The next generation Porsche 718 will be electric and its design will evolve to match the brand's other battery models. Photos and prototypes show more clearly what the future Boxster and Cayman will look like

Porsche is actively working on the development of the next generation 718. Details of "the middle of the last 10 years" have not been announced, but this future version of Boxster and Cayman will be 100% electric. The less camouflaged prototype of the roadster is regularly photographed and photographed for testing purposes.

Mechanical revolution, stylistic development

The next Porsche 718 Boxster retains the silhouette of the current model and is faithful to the textile top. It adopts Porsche's new aesthetic code, including a flat front light with 4 light centers and a significantly sophisticated horizontal taillight unit.

In addition to the absence of exhaust vents, the mechanic's "zero emission" character is highlighted by the disappearance of the side air intakes, which have characterized Boxster since the concept version in 1993 and have supplied the rear mid engine.

The 718 Cayman should follow the same development as the convertible. So far, no prototype of the model with a fixed roof has been seen, but the Mission R concept car and GT4ePerformance prototype are the same as the small coupe.

The prototype is equipped with a twin-engine all-wheel drive that can produce up to 1,088 horsepower, and in the "racing mode" it is limited to 612 horsepower. Its oil-cooled900 volt battery has a charging capacity of 340 kW. Autonomy data from the manufacturer is not provided. The current Porsche 718 is waiting for a replacement, but its range has already been reduced in certain markets.
