Rolls-Royce plans SUVs and sedans to meet the growing demand for high-quality and spacious vehicles. The brand's strategic move is to combine ultimate luxury and functionality with these upcoming models. Automotive News reported that the automaker is currently planning two new electric vehicles, including a crossover and a sedan. And this, perhaps, in addition to the possibility of electric Rolls-Royce convertible.

Rolls-Royce launched its first electric car, Spectre, in 2023 as a unique expression of its electric car brand.

The 2nd Rolls Royce EV to be added to the product range after the Spectre coupé will be an SUV, the report says. According to Automotive News, the automaker's electric SUV will be in full size, but smaller than the Cullinan with today's V12. We expect electric SUVs to be on the market in early 2027.

Following the electric SUV, Rolls Royce plans to launch at the end of 2028 the 3rd electric car with a sedan. According to Automotive News, the electric sedan will replace the full-fledged Phantom flagship. The Phantom is a historic Rolls-Royce nameplate, and it is unclear whether the electric sedan bears this name.

Spectre will serve as a replacement for the Phantom coupé in the near future. Rolls-Royce had already had to recall the Spectre EV because of insufficient electrical grounding, which could increase the risk of fire.

Like other automakers, Rolls Royce is committed to driving purely electric by 2030, but unlike its competitors, it sticks to this commitment. In 2024 Q1, more than 60% of Rolls・Royce cars will be equipped with v12 engines, but automakers plan to phase out models with internal combustion engines by the end of 2031.

Bentley, Rolls-Royce's main competitor, once seemed ready to be fully electric ahead of its rivals. In 2020, it was said that by 2026 there would be a full range of plug-in hybrids, and by 2030 it would switch to the electric range. However, on March 3 Bentley announced that the first electric car will not be launched until 2026, and delivery is expected to begin in 2027, and that changes in the market environment will meet future targets.

conclusion

With the launch of new SUVs and new sedans, Rolls-Royce wants to combine its distinctive luxury with modern consumer preferences for larger and more versatile cars. This expansion will strengthen Rolls・Royce's commitment to innovation and maintain its position as a leader in the luxury automotive market.
