When Tesla first introduced the tesla Cybertruck in 2019, it caused a sensation with its futuristic design and entry-level prices that were very affordable for such a groundbreaking vehicle. The base model was supposed to start at 39,900. But as we approach the expected vehicle release, many potential buyers are starting to wonder if the final price will match the original estimate. There are signs that the Tesla Cyber Truck could be more expensive than originally planned due to several factors, including inflation, supply chain challenges and technological advances.

Cybertrack 2019

Already in 2019, cybertruck should start at 39,900 $ and start production in 2021. Elon Musk recently commented that "a lot has changed since then" and that cybertruck will be more expensive than originally planned. Musk also claimed the vehicle will go into production in the middle of next year, claiming it is a "damn good product" and a "damn good machine." Why is the price of cyber trucks going up exactly ?

Factors behind Price Rise

The COVID-19 pandemic is an obvious factor that has disrupted production and every car manufacturer is feeling this due to the global chip shortage. Musk also explained that inflation is another reason why the vehicle will be more expensive in 2019 than originally stated, and that there have been "various issues" in the last three years that have changed the plan for the vehicle. It is not clear how much the Cybertruck will cost, but there will be three versions:

  • Single engine rear wheel drive with a range of 250 miles

  • Twin-engine all-wheel drive with a range of 300 miles

  • Three-engine all-wheel drive with a range of 500 miles

Technological progress

When the Cyber Truck was first unveiled, Tesla promised a vehicle with impressive features, including a range of up to 500 miles on a single charge, 0-60 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds, and a robust stainless steel body. But since its launch, Tesla has continued to develop and improve its technology. The Cybertrack is expected to include Tesla's latest battery technology advances, including 4680 battery cells that can improve efficiency and range, but the production costs will be higher.

additional features such as improved autopilot and full autonomous driving capability (FSD) can also drive up the price. Tesla is known for offering these features as optional add-ons. They increase the value of the vehicle, but also significantly increase the total cost of the consumer.

conclusion

The Tesla Cyber Truck was originally touted as an affordable and innovative electric truck, but evolving circumstances such as rising production costs, supply chain problems and technological advances can make it more expensive than originally planned. Despite the possible price increases, Cybertruck remains an exciting and innovative vehicle that can reshape the electric truck market. Potential buyers should keep an eye on Tesla's upcoming announcement to keep information about the final price and availability.
